What You Need to Know About Windows 11 Version 23H2 Cumulative Update KB5016904

Microsoft has just released a new Windows 11 cumulative update, though this time it’s only a servicing update specifically aimed at the Dev channel.

More specifically, Microsoft has shipped a new update whose role is to help test the servicing pipeline for builds in the Dev channel, so while your computer will be offered the update (obviously if you’re part of the Windows Insider program), you won’t be getting any new features or improvements.

The new update lands as KB5016904, and it increases the OS build number to 25163.1010.

“We are starting to roll out Cumulative Update Build 25163.1010 (KB5016904). This update does not include anything new and is designed to test our servicing pipeline for builds in the Dev Channel,” Microsoft says.

What’s new in Windows 11 build 25163

Given it’s aimed at users in the Dev channel, this update is specifically supposed to be installed on computers where Windows 11 build 25163 is already running.
