Microsoft Releases Windows 10 Cumulative Update KB4601382

Microsoft has released a new cumulative update preview for Windows 10 version 2004 and Windows 10 version 20H2, allowing power users to try out the next round of improvements coming in the March 2021 Patch Tuesday a little early.

The new cumulative update is KB4601382, and it bumps the OS build number to 19041.844 on Windows 10 version 2004 and to 19042.844 on Windows 10 version 20H2.

Needless to say, given it’s an optional update, the focus isn’t on security improvements, but mostly on fixing other bugs and performance issues in Windows 10.

For example, Microsoft explains that this update resolves an issue causing what it describes as “unexpected screen” when users launch the Windows Out of the Box Experience, or OOBE.
