Microsoft Fixes Bug Hitting Microsoft Access Customers

Microsoft has developed a fix for a Microsoft Access bug that was introduced by the July 12 updates and which causes an error when trying to open files created in a different version of the app.

The company originally acknowledged the problem earlier this month, explaining that users could get an error reading “Requested type library or wizard is not a VBA project” when trying to open an ACCDE/MDE file.

Microsoft says it has already developed a fix for Office 2016, Office 2019, and Office 2021, with full fixes for Microsoft 365 already on the way. The company claims Microsoft 365 apps on Windows 7 should get the patch on August 9 (this is when the company will ship a new round of updates as part of the next month’s Patch Tuesday rollout).

On the other hand, Microsoft 365 Apps in the Semi-Annual Enterprise Channel should be getting the same fix on July 25, so the rollout should start in just a few days.
