Marvel’s Midnight Suns Review (PC)
I was pretty excited when the XCOM folks announced they will be making a turn-based strategy game with cards, which will be set in the Marvel universe. Two of my favorite mechanics, turn-based strategy and deckbuilding, combined under the supervision of one of the best studios in the gaming industry when it comes to tactical games.
It’s been quite a ride though for Firaxis, as the game was previously delayed due to the COVID pandemic and, probably, other reasons too. But that’s a thing of the past now that Marvel’s Midnight Suns is out on all platforms, including PC, PlayStation and Xbox.
Marvel’s Midnight Suns marks more premiers for Firaxis, a studio known for creating deep combat systems. First off, a big part of the game is designed as a social hub where the protagonist can bind with other superheroes. It’s a similar system made popular by the Fire Emblem franchise, only that there’s a lot of other things that you can do when not fighting beyond socializing.
