Amazon’s Invincible Gets Renewed For Two More Seasons

Amazon Prime Video’s series Invincible has been renewed for Season 2 and Season 3, according to a tweet sharing the news by creator Robert Kirkman (The Walking Dead). The announcement was made in a video call Kirkman uploaded, in which he dials star Steven Yeun to tell him first.

Invincible is an adaptation of another comic from the prolific Kirkman, but whereas The Walking Dead opted for live-action, this series is animated. In the comic, 17-year-old Mark Grayson is the son of the most powerful superhero on Earth, Omni-Man. Mark learns he has powers of his own and that there’s something more ominous at play within his household. Despite how the premise might sound, this is not an animated series for kids–Invincible is brutal, violent, and extremely bloody. Its first season will wrap on April 30 with Episode 8.

“I’m extremely thankful to Amazon for the support and dedication they’ve put behind Invincible,” Kirkman said in a statement (via Variety). “The comic book is truly a love letter to a genre that Cory [Walker] and I grew up reading and loving, and it’s been a gratifying journey to watch our characters come to life again through the animated series. We’re beyond excited to continue this story for at least two more seasons.”
