Alex Jones Asks Government to Protect Him
Alex Jones has filed for personal Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection, court records show. The filing comes less than two months after a jury found that Jones should pay $965 million to the families of Sandy Hook victims and an FBI agent whom he defamed on air, plus an additional $473 milllion in punitive damages.
In a brief and bloodless filing in the U.S. Bankruptcy Court for the Southern District of Texas, which was first reported by Reuters, Jones estimated that he has assets between $1 million and $10 million, liabilities between $1 billion and $10 billion, and owes money to between 50 and 99 creditors. A list of creditors who had the “largest unsecured claims” against Jones are all the Sandy Hook plaintiffs, as well as American Express, to which he’s listed as owing $150,000.
Jones didn’t immediately address the filing on his Infowars; as the news broke, the network was airing a replay of the disturbing Kanye West/Nick Fuentes appearance from Thursday, during which West spent several hours praising Adolf Hitler.
